Summary

An integrated engineering tool chain needs information from different engineering disciplines brought together into one consistent model of engineering data, which makes cooperation between data providers and data users easier. The Asset Administration Shell (AAS) and AutomationML are key technologies for modelling engineering data, distributing it and managing access to it.

The paper presents an approach, developed in the context of the Factory-X project, that combines the strengths of both standards to raise productivity and make finding solutions in engineering more efficient. It follows the approach of the AutomationML Application Recommendation AutomationML in Asset Administration Shells.
