Summary
Methods for exchanging system structure along the engineering tool chain have mostly concentrated on the system elements; the relations between them have received much less attention. Building on results of the DIAMOND project, the paper presents a methodology for automatically translating native engineering data into AutomationML representations that carry both elements and their relations, so that this information can be exchanged vendor-neutrally and integrated into a consistent engineering information management system.
