Abstract
AutomationML (AML) provides a powerful, vendor-neutral data exchange format for engineering tasks. Ensuring AML files adhere to the extensive Whitepaper standards is essential for interoperability, yet manually verifying compliance is inefficient and error-prone. The working group bridges this gap by mapping AutomationML to ontologies, which make not only data but also its meaning machine-readable and interpretable. To address this, the Formal Description for AutomationML (FD4AML) group aims to automate compliance checks using ontologies and the Shapes Constraint Language (SHACL). Current results and future aims are presented within the talk.
