Since 2010 the AutomationML association has hosted its user conference at changing member locations across Europe. Below you find a short review of each edition together with the downloadable conference proceedings.
80 people from 14 countries and 44 different companies and research institutions came to Gothenburg, Sweden, to discuss current topics around the data exchange format AutomationML. Day one covered the application of AutomationML to current development topics, including its use at equinor (former Statoil), existing toolchains by ABB, Cenit, Siemens and Airbus, and implementation strategies for AutomationML based interfaces. Day two focused on standardization efforts and research projects, and was completed by a tour of the ABB location in Gothenburg.
Festo made its atrium in Esslingen available to the 4th AutomationML User Conference. 100 participants from 13 countries attended two days of presentations, among them the keynote of Rüdiger Fritz (SAP SE) on AutomationML, OPC UA and service oriented architectures on the shop floor, and a panel discussion on „Road to Industrie 4.0: AutomationML as Digital Enabler“. Day two closed with a tour through Festo’s production plant „Technologiefabrik Scharnhausen“.
Hosted by Phoenix Contact in Blomberg, the third conference combined presentations from industry and science with workshops on specific aspects of AutomationML. A highlight was the keynote of Roland Heidel (chairman of IEC TC65) on the role of AutomationML within „Industrie 4.0“ approaches and the relevance of joint standardisation efforts.
Nearly fifty participants attended the two-day conference, kindly supported by Daimler AG. Day one was dedicated to success stories of AutomationML association members and tools with an AutomationML interface; day two comprised presentations and workshops on the technical use of AutomationML, for example for importer and exporter implementation.
